If you've landed here, then we have a Fresh 48 session scheduled together in the near future. I am honored that you chose me to capture these first moments with your baby and my hope is that some of the information here will help you prepare for this session, amidst all of the other things you're tackling in preparation for your babes arrival. I'll try to keep it short and sweet!

What to Expect about the Session:

My style is very minimalistic and documentary in nature. This simply means I photograph your brand new baby in the most authentic way possible. I may help you move your baby into a space with better natural light, or gently and safely adjust your baby’s position to photograph small details, but other than that I won't pose your newborn. I will help guide you in holding your baby for images with your partner, if you desire it. I don’t bring props for these sessions. I do have a small collection of high quality organic solid colored blankets, and I would be happy to bring them on request. I truly believe there’s timeless beauty to be had in the raw and authentic space that you’re experiencing with your baby, and I pride myself on my ability to capture families in a documentary perspective during this intimate time.

How Should I Prepare for My Fresh 48 Session?

It’s important that you let me know when your baby is born. If you can notify me in early labor, that helps me clear my schedule in preparation. Hospitals are now discharging families closer to 24 hours after birth, and I want be sure I’m there before you go! Your session will be scheduled for during daylight hours to ensure we have natural light. It's important to be aware that during the a Fresh 48 session my focus is on documenting your brand new baby and capturing all of their tiny details and early moments with their parents. I like to remind parents that it can be difficult to change a full outfit for baby while keeping him/her restful in the first days of life. If there’s an outfit you’re hoping for baby to wear during their images, I highly recommend putting your baby into the outfit well before the session time. In regards to outfits, I suggest avoiding reds, magentas and oranges…these can create a warm cast on baby’s skin. Neutrals never fail! If there are siblings you'd like images with, please plan accordingly when booking your session, as a Deluxe Session will be needed to provide adequate time for these images.

For Siblings:

If you plan to have siblings present, I encourage you to prepare siblings for the session by making our session the exciting event of the day! Talk it up, make it sound like a party! Please feel free to show them my picture on my About Me page, so they know who I am. I do everything in my power to engage children, and as a Mom of 3 my playbook is fairly diverse. I like to keep things upbeat and natural so children enjoy the session and don’t feel stressed. I’ve found that bribing kids to participate can be confusing and create tension for them. If we approach the session as being a fun and exciting event, they are more willing to participate in a joyous and natural way, creating the authentic and positive experience you desire.

Don’t Forget in the Excitement!

Please be sure to contact me as soon as you realize you’re in labor ideally, or you’ve delivered your baby. This simply ensures that I can schedule your session before you are discharged from the hospital.

I’m so excited to help document this time for you and your growing family. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!
