If you've landed here, the chances are pretty high that we have a Fresh 48 session scheduled together in the near future. Congratulations on your pregnancy and your new bundle of joy! I am honored that you chose me to capture these first moments with your baby and my hope is that some of the information here will help you prepare for this session, amidst all of the other things you're tackling in preparation for your babes arrival. I'll try to keep it short and sweet!
Before a Fresh 48 Session:
First, we'll want to get you officially scheduled and on the books if we have not done that already. Contact me ASAP if we need to do this, we'll want to confirm your spot. If possible, you'll want to contact me as soon as you know you're in labor. Your partner, or a doula, or someone you trust is welcome to do this through text! Your due date is blocked out on my schedule, and this additional information allows me to prepare the coming days to provide you the most flexibility in scheduling a specific time for the session. Part of setting up your session includes sharing information with me about where you plan to have your baby. If your birth location changes, please let me know as soon as possible.
My baby is here! It's time for my Fresh 48 Session:
Let me know when your baby has arrived, and we'll schedule a time for your session during daylight hours in the next 48 hours. We'll want as much natural light as possible, so keep in mind the session will likely occur the next time the sun is up! If you're in the hospital, find out from a nurse when your expected discharge time is, we'll want to know that in order to book your session. Also let your nurses know you're expecting a photographer once we've nailed down a time. If you're planning a home birth, be conscious of when your home has the best natural light available. It's important to be aware that during the a Fresh 48 session my focus is on documenting your brand new baby and capturing all of their tiny details and early moments with their Mom and Dad first and foremost. If there are siblings or additional family members you'd like images with, please plan accordingly when booking your session, as a Mini will not be the best fit, and a Standard or Deluxe Fresh 48 will ensure the time we need to capture those precious moments too!
What else should I know for my Fresh 48 Session?
Before booking me for your session, you may have noticed that I shoot my sessions from a very documentary type perspective. This means I photograph your brand new baby in the most authentic way possible. I may help you move your baby into a space with better natural light, but other than that I won't pose your newborn. I will help pose you and your partner for photos with your newborn if you desire it. If there's a swaddle or a wrap you'd like to put baby in for these images, make sure it finds it's way into your hospital bag/labor area. I like to remind parents that it can be difficult to change a full outfit for baby while keeping him/her restful, it's best to plan to use wraps or swaddles for your baby during this session. I do have a small collection of wraps and swaddles and I'm happy to pack a few extras for your session upon request. All wraps and swaddles are washed after each use in Ecos or hypo-allergenic All detergent after each use. I bring Honest Co. hand sanitizing spray with me to every session, and I will apply to my hands before coming near your new baby. In the unlikely event I become ill near your due date, I will inform you right away. I will provide a replacement photographer for your Fresh 48 session, or an immediate session refund with referrals for a substitute photographer.
